: : E-mail & Spamming Inquiries : What's IMAP? What are the differences between webmail, POP3 and IMAP4? Print
Question:What's IMAP? What are the differences between webmail, POP3 and IMAP4?
Answer:IMAP stands for Internet Message Access Protocol. All our email accounts support POP3, IMAP4 and webmail.

IMAP's biggest advantage is that mail is stored on the server; you can read e-mails at one PC, then later read them at another PC. Messages you’ve read earlier on the first PC will show up as being read. IMAP offers storage and filing options, where new mail arrives in the "Inbox" folder. You can create other folders and manage your messages.

POP3 was designed for single users to read their e-mails from one machine using one mailbox only. POP stores incoming e-mail on our mail server until you log on to your computer and enter your e-mail program. E-mail is then downloaded onto your computer and is deleted from our mail server. This releases your free space on the service to receive additional messages.

Our webmail works similarly to IMAP, however, our webmail supports advanced email features such as spam control, message filters, language translator, quicksave when composing emails, POP3 mail fetching, email forwarding and vacation message setup. The benefit to using webmail is that you can access your mailboxes and mail folders with any modern web browsers.
