: : E-mail & Spamming Inquiries : I can't send out any emails, it says "Host Not Found" or "Relaying Denied"? Print
Question:I can't send out any emails, it says "Host Not Found" and/or "Relaying Denied, Proper authentication required"
Answer:If you are using Outlook or Outlook Express to send your emails, please be sure that you have ticked the box showing "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication."

You can refer to one of the below tutorials for setting up your email program to work with our servers:

Microsoft Outlook Express:
http://www.ehosting.ca/support/outlookexp

Microsoft Outlook:
http://www.ehosting.ca/support/outlook

Microsoft Eudora:
http://www.ehosting.ca/support/eudora

However, should you have completed the above step but still cannot send out emails. A great possibility is that your ISP may have blocked you from using a foreign SMTP server.

Some ISPs (For example, Sympatico, Rogers, Shaw, Sprint Canada, AOL and Telus) restrict people to use foreign SMTP server for outgoing mails (that is, they block external port 25 for traffic) because they do not want their users to use other SMTP servers to do spamming and/or spoofing.

However, you are still able to receive emails as receiving emails relies on different ports, for POP3, it is TCP Port 110 and for IMAP4, it is TCP Port 143.

Nevertheless, here are several workarounds for the above problem:

1) Use your ISP provided SMTP server for your outgoing emails.

Or

2) Configure your email program to connect our mail server at port 587 instead of port 25.

Or

3) Use our webmail at http://mail.ehosting.ca.
